New Titanfall game announced, but for mobile

Respawn has just announced a Titanfall game, but it’s headed to mobile devices rather than consoles.

Developer Respawn has actually announced a partnership with Nexon to produce “several” new titles for smartphones and tablets all set in the Titanfall universe.

Part of the deal has seen both companies invest in Particle City, a Los Angeles-based mobile dev, which was actually founded by Respawn’s Vince Zampella.

The agreement has been described as a “multi-game, multi-year partnership”, which will see the first Titanfall-themed mobile game land on iOS and Android sometime in 2016.

“As a player and fan of Titanfall I am delighted to be working with the talented team at Respawn to bring the world of Titanfall to mobile and tablet,” said Nexon president and CEO Owen Mahoney.

“Working closely with our partners at Respawn and Particle City we intend to build on the original game’s success and introduce millions of mobile gamers to the rich Titanfall universe.”

“Our partnership with Nexon is momentous for many reasons. Nexon’s unrivalled publishing network and free-to-play expertise will allow Titanfall to reach new global audiences,” added Respawn’s Zampella.

“And with Particle City, we are closely collaborating to create all-new standalone games with original gameplay experiences that expand the Titanfall universe to players everywhere.”

Nexon is currently responsible for the upcoming F2P version of Titanfall for the Asian market on PC.

Still no word on Titanfall 2 though…
