New Tesla Roadster has 620-mile range, 0-60mph in 1.9 seconds
During the launch of the long-awaited Tesla Semi on Thursday night, Elon Musk had a surprise for the company’s most ardent fans.
Musk introduced a new version of the Roadster sports car, which he says is “the fastest production car ever made, period.”
The new 250mph+ four-seater, which will be available from 2020, can go from 0-60mph in 1.9 seconds and rack up a quarter of a mile in 8.9 seconds.

“This is the first time that any production car has broken nine seconds in a quarter mile,” Musk said.
The Roadster also practically doubles the range of Tesla’s Model S sedan and Model X SUV. It can travel up to 620 miles on a single charge.
These numbers sound nutty but they’re real,” Musk said. “You’ll be able to travel from L.A. to San Francisco – and back – without recharging.”
For all that speed and double the range, you’ll also pay double the price… at least.
The new Roadster will start at $200,000 with the limited edition Founder Series costing $250,000.
Keep on truckin’
Elon Musk’s Apple-like “one more thing” surprise came after the unveiling of the Tesla Semi truck.
The futuristic electric truck will travel for 500 miles on just one charge. It can recharge in just 30 minutes at one of Tesla’s solar-powered Megachargers.

The Semi, which is an 18-wheeler capable of pulling 80,000lbs when fully loaded, can travel from 0-60mph in 5 seconds.
The truck will enter production in 2019, with pre-order customers receiving them in 2021. US retailer Walmart has already signed up to trial the truck.
