The new Steam Controller design has been leaked online in the latest Steam client beta.
Valve has accidentally given us a sneak peek at the new design for the Steam Controller.
A similar design diagram appears in the last Steam client beta back in July, so the two together are allowing us to build a good picture of what we can expect from the controller.
However, what’s different about the latest design, which you can see above, is that the Steam Controller is looking more compact and a D-Pad outline has been traced on the left thumbpad.
Some are suggesting that this left thumbpad might act as an enhanced D-Pad, with more diverse movement options.
The analogue stick that was added over the summer is still prominently featured below the left thumbpad, and next to the face buttons. It again looks smaller than the one we’ve seen previously.
The shoulder buttons have also seemed to have slimmed down a bit than the last iteration.
Valve may well have settled on this design as it hasn’t changed much from when we saw it in July. Hopefully the developer is just refining the design and we’ll see it in the flesh soon.

In November, Valve confirmed that it wouldn’t be at CES 2015, but revealed that it would have a “large Steam Machine presence” at the 2015 Game Developers Conference, which is held in March.
