New Roku 2 comes to UK alongside search and feed software updates
Roku has brought its revamped Roku 2 box to the UK, which coincides with the rollout of some new Roku Search and Roku Feed software features.
Signs of the new and improved Roku 2 box appeared in Canada back at the end of March, and it was officially announced at the beginning of April. However, it’s only now that the company has made the new streaming box officially available here in the UK.
According to a company blog post, UK buyers can pick up the enhanced Roku 2 from Argos, Curry’s, and Amazon. The latter currently has it listed for £69.99.
The new Roku 2 benefits from the same performance level as the Roku 3, but without the enhanced remote control.
Meanwhile, Roku’s new software features will be coming to all current generation Roku players.
As the name suggests, Roku Search enables users to search for movies and TV shows across a range of cooperating services such as Netflix, Snagfilms and Popcornflix. You can also search for actors and directors, view filmographies, and discover availability and pricing options.

Roku Feed, meanwhile, provides curated recommendations, starting with a cross-service focus on “Movies Coming Soon.” Roku hopes that this will end the guessing game around when a box office hit is available for streaming, and on which services.
There’s also an updated version of the Roku Mobile app on iOS and Android, with support for those new search and discovery features.
