The most desirable phone on the market finally gets some substance to go with its beautiful looks.
It probably wouldn’t be an exaggeration to describe the Motorola RAZR as the most desired phone of all time. Sure, the Startac was hot in its day, as was the world’s first camera phone (the Sharp GX10) and Sony Ericsson’s K750i seems to be kicking up a bit of a fuss right now, but nothing has loomed quite so large in the sights of blind fashion followers as the RAZR.
As you can probably tell, I didn’t quite fall for its charms (the geeky side of me couldn’t get over the crap specs), but a new spell is about to be cast as Motorola shows off the RAZR’s first significant upgrade.
Yes, yes, yes, there is a version that boosts the pants VGA camera of the original to 1.3 megapixels but that was a RAZR 1.5, whereas the new kid of the block is the full 2.0. Called the RAZR V3x, this baby comes with a 2 megapixel camera, whopping 8x digital zoom, second VGA camera for video calls and – you guessed it – 3G.
You can bet the current bunch of 3G bricks are… well, bricking themselves at the thought of this svelte supermodel sitting next to them on the shelves (think Adriana Lima posed next to Dawn French). Yes *drool* I did say Adriana Lima (official site coming soon!).
The V3x has more under the hood too (as does Adriana Lima *slaps self*), including Bluetooth, a microSD slot (or Transflash as it used to be known), an unnamed “enhanced 3D graphics processor”, support for AAC+, MP3, WMA, WMV and Mpeg4, real video/audio playback and speaker independent voice dialling. To be blunt, it sounds kick ass.
Yes, yes, yes (again), the V3x is essentially a evolution of the prototype V1150 that the company profiled at CeBIT, but it takes what was a very impressive idea and builds on it. Practice your chat up lines and wear a nice pair of shoes and maybe the V3x will go home with you when it struts onto the market in Q4. ”Hallelujah! I’ve Seen The Light!”
