New Nokia X photos leaked showing Android UI and design

Some new Nokia X photos have leaked online, showing the Android UI and the smartphone’s design.

Four new images of the first Android phone from Nokia have emerged ahead of a heavily rumoured MWC 2014 launch.

The images show the heavily Windows Phone 8 influenced Android UI from Nokia actually running on the Nokia X.

As with previous leaks, the UI looks to feature WP8-style Live Tiles that a represented by coloured blocks on the phone’s home screen.

From the looks of these snaps, there’s nothing to actually suggest this is Android at all, as all the apps are given generic titles like Email, Internet and Store. However, if it is the Finnish company’s Android UI then at least the Nokia X will benefit from Nokia services like Here Maps.

The actual design of the Nokia X is far more Lumia than Asha, as suggested by previous leaked pictures.

There’s still no sign of a front facing camera, but the X will supposedly have a 5-megapixel rear camera, supported by the emergence of a test shot earlier this month.

The Nokia X will also only have one soft touch button underneath the screen, rather than the usual array of three navigational buttons offered with Nokia Lumia smartphones.

Other navigational buttons will appear on screen, as we can see from the photos - a feature introduced with Android 4.4 KitKat, so hopefully the X will run Google’s latest mobile OS.

The rumoured specs for the Nokia X see the Android phone run on a 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with 512MB of RAM.

It should also feature a 4-inch WVGA display with a 800 x 480p resolution and offer 4GB of internal storage bolstered by a microSD card slot.

The X should arrive in six colours, with black, green, red and orange tipped to make the cut. According to nowhereelse.fr, it should retail for no more than $150 (£90).
