Sometimes products come across our desk that leave us in awe of the simplicity and flabbergasted they don't exist already. Today we added the Blockhead to the list.
The charging accessory for Apple MacBook computers is such a no brainer, we’re now amazed Cupertino didn’t design them this way in the first place.
The add-on for the two-piece Mac chargers (via Gizmodo) enables folks to replace the awkward plug portion with one that faces sideways.
The result is your Mac charger now sits flat against the wall, instead of protruding into the room where's it's vulnerable to being tripped over and ripped out by all and sundry.
It also means it’ll fit in more places, such as the gap between wall and sofa.
With the Blockhead, which also works with iPad chargers, the cable faces down rather than off to the side, offering a more natural angle that promises to reduce cable stress.
And one more thing… if you’ve ever tried to plug in public places or into older sockets, you'll be familiar with it simply falling out and crashing to the floor when there isn't enough tension to hold the weight.
The blockhead promises a more even distribution of weight and a more reliable centre of gravity, meaning it’ll stay in place more often, even when using those crappy Starbucks-style multi-gadget power outs.
The $20 accessory, which will ship in late April, is only available for US-style adapters right now.
We reached out to the makers Ten One Design in order to see if a UK version is forthcoming and a spokesperson told us: "Of course, we’d love to get this rolled out to the world asap. First step for us is establishing this is truly useful in North America. Hoping to explore more options soon."
