Any time an iPad or iPhone launches, you can expect hundreds of rabid Apple fans to turn up at London’s gloriously-arrayed Apple Stores hours – and often days – before they open. It was no different this time. A pair of chaps showed up days early, and there were around 400 people there at 8am for the store’s opening. Want to see what happened?
Our roving reporter Matt braved the crowds to capture the very moment the Regent Street Apple Store opened. Be warned – there’s whooping, there’s hollering, there’s a grown man falling to his knees as if in some sort of religious ecstacy. Apple fans: gotta love ’em.
The Regent Street Apple Store opened at 8am this morning, and there was reportedly enough stock of the new iPad to supply everyone waiting with a new tablet. However, Apple Stores were not the first retail outlets to offer the device. PC World in Tottenham Court Road held a midnight opening, letting those less obsessed with the pomp and ceremony of an iPad launch get hold of the tablet eight hours early.
