Bethesda has announced the new DOOM game will finally launch on May 13 this year.

The game has been in development for years, having gone through several iterations, and will be available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC when it launches.

A new trailer, showing off some typically gory DOOM gameplay, accompanied the announcement.

On top of all that, Bethesda also announced a Premium Collector's edition of the game and a Demon Multiplayer pack.

The premium edition comes in the obligatory metal case and includes a 12-inch tall collector’s statue of one of the game’s most iconic demons: the Revenant.

It'll cost you though. The collector’s edition is available for pre-order now and is priced at $119.99 in the US, €129.99 in Europe, and £99.99 in the UK.

Pre-ordering the special edition gets you the multiplayer pack which contains a unique demon armour set with three skin variations, six metallic paint colours and three id logo patterns for weapons and armour.

There's also a set of six Hack Modules – one-time consumable items that can give you an edge in a multiplayer match.

Aside from the story and multiplayer modes, DOOM will come with what developers id Software are calling a 'SnapMap' game editor so you can create your own arenas of carnage.

The original DOOM was released in 1993 and is considered a classic of the FPS genre.

This year's reboot is the first DOOM game since mediocre 2003 entry DOOM 3, and is being touted as a return to form for the series.

Doom 3 was one of the greatest games ever made. The only thing that made it appear otherwise was releasing next to Half Life 2.

Mediocre my ass.

If this new doom is half of what doom 3 was at the time it will be lucky. I have it preordered and I played the beta and Im hoping the campaign has decent atmosphere like Doom 3.
