New Apple Watch luxury strap partnership incoming – report

Apple isn’t hiding the fact that it wants the Apple Watch to be seen as a luxury item, but it might be keeping its next ritzy partnership quiet.

Fashion brand Coach has developed a number of straps for the Apple Watch, a new report claims.

According to Haute Ecriture, Apple will release “about eight” Watch bands designed by Coach in June – that coincides with Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference 2016.

“I was at a Coach boutique Thursday and as I was making a purchase, a sales associate noticed my Apple Watch and told me Coach will be releasing new bands for it,” reads the report.

“The sales associate then proceeded to show me a piece of paper with various products on them that included photos of about eight watch bands, which included a white band, a black band, a red band, and a brown band,” it continues.

The report goes on to claim that some of the bands have “charms on them”, while others have “patterns stitched into them”. It also alleges that pricing for each band will be $150, and that the straps are designed to have “the same aesthetic as Coach’s handbags from its Spring/Summer 2016 Collection.”

To date, Apple has only worked with one luxury brand – Hermes – on Apple Watch straps, but it makes sense that the company would want to grow its high-end offering.

Unfortunately, Apple hasn’t made any public announcements about the prospect of new luxury bands, so take this report with due caution.
