Having been officially unveiled alongside the iPad mini and iPad 4 last month, the new Apple iMac release date has been confirmed as this Friday, November 30.

With recent iMac rumours suggesting the all in one computer had been delayed until early 2013, Apple has revealed that the 2012 iMac will land sooner than expected with the high-end device to steal some of Nintendo’s thunder and share this Friday’s Nintendo Wii U release date.

Suggesting the 21.5-inch model code be made available earlier than its larger sibling, Apple has revealed that the 27-inch model will not ship until an undisclosed date in December.

“The 21.5-inch iMac will be available through the Apple Online Store, Apple’s retail stores and select Apple Authorised Resellers,” an official statement from the copy said. “The 27-inch iMac will be available for order through the Apple Online Store and will begin shipping in December.”

2012 Apple iMac Specs
Available in two screen size variants, the new Apple iMac is set to hit retailers later this week in both 21.5-inch and 27-inch forms. Featuring an all new form factor and revamped innards, the 2012 Apple iMac refresh is the biggest overhaul to the iconic all-in-one for a number of years.

Lining up a mere 5mm thin at its narrowest edge, the new iMac boasts a brushed aluminium and glass construction with the redesigned device helping reduce on-screen reflections by 75 per cent over previous models.

Available in a variety of specs, all models include 8GB of 1600 MHz memory and a 1TB hard drive as standard with a selection of Intel Core i5 and Core i7 processor options available on both screen options. NVIDIA GeForce graphics processors also feature for improved visuals.
