Netflix is now recommending your next TV purchase

Netflix wants your next television set to provide the optimum experience for enjoying the service and, as such, has announced the first batch of TVs to carry a “Netflix Recommended” logo.

Following through on its promise from CES 2015, Netflix has announced LG’s 4K UHD TVs with WebOS 2.0 are among the best for viewing the on demand streaming platform.

Sony’s Android Full HDTVs have also been anointed, while Roku TVs built by Hisense, Insignia, and TCL will also feature a Netflix Recommended TV logo at retail.

Netflix says it is most pumped about the Instant On functionality supported by the Roku and Sony Android tellies, which also have the ability to access Netflix with a single button.

Meanwhile LG’s WebOS TVs bring an improved user interface that makes it easier to switch between live and on demand services. Netflix also launches with greater haste on the WebOS 2.0 TVs, thanks to ‘special optimisations,’ the company said.

In a blog post (via Engadget) on Tuesday, the company wrote: “At the Consumer Electronics Show in January we announced our Netflix Recommended TV program. For all the benefits of smart TVs, our members tell us that access to the Netflix service should be easier, and that once you launch the app, you shouldn’t have to wait forever to begin enjoying the experience.

The goal of the program is to give people insight into which models meet those needs and deliver a superior smart TV experience.  When you’re shopping for a new TV and see the Netflix Recommended TV logo, it means that TV will offer easy access to Internet TV services, faster performance, and new features that enable a next-generation smart TV experience.”

The announcement follows reports last week revealing a dedicated Netflix button is coming to Smart TV remotes in the United Kingdom, to save users sorting through a host of UI menus in order to begin streaming their favourite shows.

Netflix says it plans to out more Recommended TVs in the coming weeks and months. You can check out how Netflix classifies the Smart TVs in the video below.
