Netflix and Chill alone with this ridiculous cinema head enclosure

This could be you...

We all want to lose ourselves in cinema, but sharing a movie theatre with others can be pretty distracting.

There’s a new way to immerse yourself in a movie, and it’s called the Cardboard Home Cinema.

Not a far cry from the Google Cardboard VR headset, the ‘Goggle Box’ is a ludicrous head enclosure that aims to block out the world so you can really enjoy a film.

So how does it work? First off, put your phone or tablet on the top – voila, a cinema screen.

Next, lie on the floor (seriously), and slide your head into the noggin-shaped groove on the side.

If all goes to plan, you’ll feel utterly immersed in whatever video you choose to stick on your device.

Probably best to do it on a soft rug though, and forewarn co-residents of your plans, lest they accidentally step on your gut mid-movie.

When you’re done, the box folds back down for easy storage when not in use.

And for those who still want that cinema feel, the Goggle Box includes an optional cardboard audience insert for “added realism”.

The Goggle Box currently retails for £24.99, exclusively at Firebox in the UK.

“Stop for a moment and imagine the perfect cinema,” says Firebox’s Dan Farr. “No sticky carpets or popcorn crunching under foot, no unreasonably tall people sat directly in front of you, no sickly couples canoodling and talking over the film.”

“Just your own fully-reclined seat in the front row, every single time,” he adds.

The Goggle Box is actually – and unsurprisingly – a Japanese import.

According to Firebox, the head-box was a massive hit on Makuake, the Japanese equivalent of Kickstarter.

Firebox says the Goggle Box is compatible with most popular smartphones and tablets, but specifically cites the iPhone 5, iPhone 5S, iPhone 6, iPad Air, and iPad Mini.
