MSI has launched its new X460 chassis, part of its X Series of notebooks which aims to combine thin and light notebooks without compromising performance.
The new X460 is available in three configurations with two
aimed at the general user and the final one aimed at the business user. The top
cover and palm rest of the X460 chassis are covered in brushed aluminium and
measures 25mm thick. Other shared features include the 1366 x 768 glossy LCD,
HM65 chipset, WiDi 2.0 support, Gigabit Ethernet and 802.11n wireless, two USB
3.0 ports and one USB 2.0 port, and a 1.3MP webcam.
The entry-level model is the MSI X460DX-008US, which costs
$749. This will get you i3-2310M CPU and GeForce GT 540M graphics, which is
quite a step up from the previous generation GPU. You’ll also get 500GB HDD,
4GB DDR3 RAM, DVD-RW, Windows Home Premium and an eight hour battery life is

being a bump up from Core i3 to the i5-2410M along with a boost to 6GB of RAM.

The final model, the MSI X460-004US, is aimed squarely at
business users and as such the price has been bumped up to $1,100. Gone is the
dual-core Core i5 of the previous model, and in its place is a quad-core
i7-2630QM. Surprisingly the GT 540M is absent though, since this laptop is aimed
at the professional market, graphics power is not as important. The laptop also
includes Windows Professional, 750GB of storage and 6GB of RAM.
