Motorola’s Verizon-fuelled Droid Turbo is finally official

The Droid Turbo has finally landed on US soil, marking months of collaboration between Motorola and Verizon.

The new device is very much a blinged-out 2nd-gen Moto X, touting a supercharged spec sheet.

For starters, the Droid Turbo makes use of a 5.2-inch display, but it leapfrogs the Moto X’s 1080p screen with a far beefier quad HD resolution.

There’s also a far heftier Snapdragon 805 processor inside, 3GB of RAM, a 21-megapixel snapper, and a 3,900mAh battery.

The Turbo also ships with Motorola’s Turbo Charger, promising a 15 minute charge period for 8 hours of juice.

Unfortunately while the specs seem to be on point, the design isn’t.

The Droid Turbo looks a bit more clumsily built than the Moto X, and now rocks a textured, crosshatch-style backplate. The ‘Droid’ logo is stamped on the bottom rear too, for good measure.

The device will land with Android 4.4.4 initially, but it’s good for a Lollipop upgrade as soon as it’s available, Motorola has promised.

It’s set to launch with the Moto X’s raft of built-in features, including Moto Display, camera gestures, and voice control.

The new blower is available from October 13, retailing at $199.99 for the 32GB model, or $249.99 for the sized up 64GB version.
