Motorola may not have announced the 2016 Moto G yet, but it doesn’t need to – the FCC has already done the hard work.
The Federal Communications Commission has certified two unnamed Motorola smartphones for sale in the US. These handsets – model numbers XT1622 and XT1642 – are expected to launch as the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus.
The FCC doesn’t name the phones explicitly, but the devices have been rumoured under these model numbers for quite some time. What’s more, the third-generation Moto G carried the model number XT1540, so the cat is definitely out of the bag.

It’s also worth noting that the FCC lists at least one of the phones as having dimensions of 153mm x 76.6mm. That’s very similar to the dimensions of the previous generation Moto G, which measured in at 142mm x 72.4mm.
Motorola has scheduled a launch event for May 17 and, although the agenda isn’t public, it’s widely speculated that the Moto G and G Plus (2016) will be revealed. Motorola’s flagship phone, the new Moto X, is rumoured to be coming at a later date.
The Moto G is expected to feature a 5.5-inch Full HD display, plus an octa-core processor, 16GB and 32GB storage variants, and a waterproof body.
