Motorola’s smartphone resurgence has been impressive, but not flawless, since the Moto G helped the ailing American manufacturer return to form in 2013.
With its handsets’ imaging abilities one feature that has repeatedly been called into question, Motorola has now promised to make significant camera improvements on future devices.
Fielding questions from disgruntled smartphone owners on Twitter, Adrienne Hayes, Motorola’s Chief Marketing Officer, confirmed the Lenovo-owned brand would be pushing on in a bid to keep footing with the likes of the LG G4 and Samsung Galaxy S6.
Questioned on whether the camera would be “the main focal point” of future Motorola phones, Hayes confirmed: “YES.
Although remaining tight lipped on when these snap-happy handsets will be brought to market, Hayes has detailed some of the improvements consumers can expect.
Quizzed on the possibility of advanced manual camera controls making the cut, she added: “We absolutely can and we absolutely will this year. Stay tuned!”

With a raft of rumours surrounding an imminent third-generation Moto X release, Motorola’s parent company Lenovo recently got in on the product-teasing act itself.
Just last week, Lenovo’s chairman and chief executive, Yang Yuanqing, stated: “We have many new models in development with the Moto brands.”
He added: “You may see in summer us launching some very exciting products, including phones and watches.”
