Motorola Moto X3 specs leaked online, and we’re confused

It’s been nearly a year since the last round of Motorola smartphones, so it’s no surprise details about the next batch are trickling out.

Details about an upcoming Motorola smartphone have seemingly been leaked online.

Indian import/export tracker Zauba has listed a mysterious Motorola device as shipping via Delhi Air Cargo from the United States on March 23, 2016.

The listing reveals the handset’s name as Motorola Moto X3, which fits with Motorola’s existing naming conventions.

The site also exposes a number of details about the handset, claiming that it will be a single SIM device, and that it will boast a 5-inch touchscreen display, as spotted by Android Central.

Interestingly, the device is valued at 6,812 Indian Rupees, which is equivalent to £72 or $100. While that’s certainly actual handset pricing and not retail pricing, it still seems a little low. Perhaps this could be an early sign of a budget Moto G successor, rather than a flagship Moto X sequel?

That seems even more likely when you consider that the Moto X Play had a 5.5-inch screen and the Moto X Style had a 5.7-inch display, both of which are bigger than this purported Moto X3.

Last year’s Moto G, meanwhile, had a 5-inch display, so this latest leak could be an early sign of the Moto G (2016).

Nevertheless, there’s no telling what Motorola is actually planning, so take this report with due caution.

Last year, Motorola split its Moto X range into two variants: the Moto X Style and the Moto X Play.

The former was released in September, while the latter came earlier in August, both sitting alongside the budget-friendly Moto G.

All three handsets were originally announced at a press event on July 28, 2015. There was also a fourth handset – the Moto X Pure Edition – that was only available in the United States.
