Marking its return to the UK smartphone scene, Motorola looks set to release a new mid-range handset, with the Motorola Moto G launch event set for November 13.
With the Motorola Moto G having leaked last week aboard prematurely outed retailer advertising materials, the phone has taken a step closer to reality, with Moto G branded event invites having now been issued to the media. The phone’s official launch has been set for next Wednesday, November 13.
Offering no further details on the phone, the invite, which is adorned with the hashtag #MotoG acts as a simple ‘Save the date’ notification.
While the manufacturer, which was recently bought out by Google, has not introduced a new smartphone to the UK for some time, Motorola earlier this summer unveiled the Motorola Moto X, a new high-end Android handset exclusive for UK markets.
Based on recent Motorola Moto G leaks, the phone will be a middling affair, with a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm processor lining up alongside a 4.5-inch 720p HD display.
Although a notable step back from the flagship likes of the Google Nexus 5, Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One, the reportedly Android 4.3 Jelly Bean powered handset will also benefit from a 5-megapixel rear-mounted camera with 720p HD video recording capabilities.
With a 1.3-megapixel secondary snapper expected to feature up front, the Motorola Moto G specs sheet has been tipped to be rounded off by 8GB of storage and a water repellent coating similar to that found on last year’s Motorola Razr i.
Although the phone’s features list might not be the most ground-breaking, according to a leaked Phones 4u product listing, the handset will retail for just £135 on a SIM-free basis, a price that instantly makes it a more tantalising option.
