Moto X+1 could be launched at Google I/O

The Motorola Moto X+1 could be announced at Google I/O, according to a new report.

A press render of the supposed 2014 Motorola flagship has appeared online along with an accompanying rumour it could be shown off tonight during the Google I/O keynote.

9to5Google has obtained a shot of a promotional shot from a reliable source that is supposedly the Moto X successor.

The press shots show a new front-facing speaker at the bottom of the phone, which wasn’t a feature of the previous model.

Previous rumours suggest the Moto X+1 will feature a 5.2-inch 1080p full HD display along with a set of upgraded specs, details of which are very limited at present.

According to the aforementioned source, the Moto X+1 could be launched during Google I/O later this evening, June 25.

If this is true, it would make sense for such promotional material to begin to appear, ahead of the full marketing push by Motorola.

However, it would be rather strange for Motorola to launch its 2014 flagship at Google’s annual developer event, because the company was sold by Google to Lenovo back in January.

The sale isn’t quite complete yet though, so perhaps Google will use the Moto X+1 launch as its farewell to Motorola Mobility.

Aside from hardware, Google has already confirmed that it will focus on introducing the new version of Android at tonight’s Google I/O keynote.

Expected to be launched with a sweet-based name beginning with L, the new version of Android should be a much larger upgrade to the operating system than the latest Android 4.4 KitKat announced last year.

“I want the world to understand what we are doing sooner,” said Sundar Pichai, Google senior VP and Android Head, when prematurely revealing a Google I/O announcement.
