Moto 360 Sport goes on sale in the UK this month

Motorola’s fitness-focused Moto 360 Sport smartwatch will be available in the UK on December 18, the company confirmed on Tuesday.

The $299 (around £200) device will arrive in the UK and France, before the US launch on January 7.

The Moto 360 Sport, first announced back in September, features built-in GPS as well as a heart-rate monitor and a music player, allowing wearers to workout without relying on their phone.

The Android Wear-powered wearable offers access to a multitude of fitness apps from the Play Store, including the likes of MapMyRun, Fitbit, Strava and Under Armour Record.

The bundled-in Moto Body app also tracks distance, pace, and lap times, as well as offering heart rate zones.

It is also fitted with Motorola’s AnyLight display technology (1.37”, 263ppi, 360 X 325) which is said to offer great disability inside and outside.

As users are able to sync their favourite playlists from Google Play Music to sit on the device’s 4GB internal storage, the accompanying phone can be left at home. Naturally users will need a pair of Bluetooth headphones to make it work.

It’s also perfectly handy as an Android Wear smartwatch, with the Wi-Fi connectivity again negating the need for a companion device to stay up to speed with notifications.

The wireless charging watch is IP67 dust and water resistant and comes with a  300mAh battery for up to a day’s mixed use. There’s also silicone bands for durability.

Is this the sports smartwatch you’ve been waiting for? Is the built-in GPS an Apple Watch Sport killer?
