Moto 360 hits US retailer early

Motorola’s Moto 360 smartwatch has popped up on the website of a  prominent US retailer, revealing a likely price and some specifications.

The Moto 360 will be officially launched on September 4 at a special Motorola event, but it seems US retailed Best Buy couldn’t wait that long.

It recently posted (and has since pulled) a product page for the Moto 360, revealing its price to be $249.99, which is the same price that leaked out back in May. That’s £149 in UK money, though the conversion is never that direct or favourable for us Brits.

Of course, we now know that this price would make the Moto 360 more expensive than both of its Android Wear competitors – the $229.99 LG G Watch and the $199.99 Samsung Gear Live.

Of course, for the extra money you get the most stylishly appealing smartwatch yet, with a unique round design and a chunky build.

The Best Buy listing also reveals (or confirms) some preliminary specs. The Moto 360 will have a 1.5-inch 320 x 290 backlit LCD display, covered by Gorilla Glass 3, and it’s water resistant to 3.3 feet for up to 30 minutes.

There’ll be a Texas Instruments processor running the show, backed by 512MB of RAM. Surprisingly, the listing reveals that the Moto 360 will weigh just 2.1 oz, which is a little lighter than the 2.2 oz LG G Watch.

Motorola’s exciting smartwatch also contains an optical heart rate monitor and a built in pedometer.

That’s it for juicy details from this retail listing. There’s no release late aside from “coming soon,” so let’s hope Motorola can execute a swift turn-around following the Moto 360’s likely September 4 unveiling.
