More pesky rumours point to iPhone 7 actually being iPhone 6SE

iPhone 6SE Geekbench

Whatever Apple decides to call its 2016 iPhone, we can rest assured the next handset will boast a pretty decent power boost.

An image, purportedly showing of the results of benchmarking tests depict a device labelled iPhone 6 SE (and not iPhone 7), being put through its paces.

Using the Geekbench tool, this new handset shows off a 5,210 and 3,042 score for multi- and single-core performance.

Gsmarena reports its benchmarking scores for the iPhone 6S were 4,427/2,542 respectively.

Of course, rumours have suggested there’ll be a new A10 mobile chip powering the new iPhone chip, so this could be an indication of just how much more performance users can expect from the upgrade.

The same source also shows off a version of the handset that has the regular home button rather than the flush, touch-sensitive model being tipped for 2016 or 2017.

The Geekbench iOS app listing of the model as an iPhone 6 SE rather than an iPhone 7 is somewhat interesting.

While it makes zero difference to the quality of the handset, it could make a difference in terms of how attractive the handset will be to everyday consumers.

While most outlets have predicted Apple will go with iPhone 7 ahead of a much larger iPhone 8 release in 2017, some sources have remained steadfast in the belief this year’s release won’t be called iPhone 7.
