Modern Warfare Remastered is only playable with Infinite Warfare disc inserted

Those who purchase the physical version of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare’s Legacy Edition will need to keep the disc if they want to play the long-awaited remaster.

If you were planning to pick up Infinite Warfare next month and trade it in after redeeming your shiny new copy or Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Remastered, you’re out of luck.

Activision has updated the Modern Warfare Remastered website with a line of text confirming that Infinite Warfare’s disc is required to play the remaster.

“Modern Warfare Remastered is a full game download (game disc must be inserted to play Modern Warfare Remastered). Internet connection required.”

Digital buyers won’t run into this issue, and shouldn’t have a problem downloading and deleting the game however they see fit.

Activision has probably taken this step to prevent consumers from trading in their copies of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare straight after redeeming codes for Modern Warfare Remastered.

Developed by Raven Software, the highly-anticipated shooter features updated visuals and gameplay that remain faithful to the original. Activision is yet to confirm if it has any plans to release the remaster as a solo product in the future.

Infinite Warfare and Modern Warfare Remastered will launch on November 4, 2016 for PS4, Xbox One and PC.

PS4 owners can gain access to Modern Warfare’s campaign 30 days early if they pre-order one of the game’s premium editions.
