Misfit’s Flash Link will turn you into a walking control hub

Misfit has just unveiled a new app to control the world around you, and a smart button to work with it.

The app is called Misfit Link, and it works as a control hub that lets you command other bits of software.

For instance, the app will let you use a Misfit Flash to take selfies with your phone camera or Snapchat.

It also allows you to control music with Spotify, Pandora, and other audio streaming services.

More prosaic functions are on offer too; for instance, advancing through slides in a PowerPoint presentation.

Misfit says there’ll be additional functionality on the way shortly, including integration with IFTTT and Logitech Harmony.

Misfit Link is available to download free of charge on iOS right now, but the Android version won’t be live until next month.

Accompanying Misfit Link is the Flash Link, a new activity tracker and smart button combo.

The flash link looks like a small button and comes with a companion clip so you can stick it on your belt. Kind of like Batman, but probably not as cool.

This button works with the Link app to give you on-the-go control over the aforementioned software features.

The Flash Link is also an activity tracker, so you can use it to measure steps and calories burned.

What’s more, it’s now Misfit’s cheapest tracker available, retailing at a price of $19.99.

“We’re focused on making products everyone can use,” says Tim Golnik, Misfit’s VP of Product and Design.

He adds: “Flash Link is not just a more affordable wearable, it’s a more powerful one.”

The company has also reduced the price of its Shine and Flash products, which now mark up at $69.99 and $29.99 respectively.

The Flash Link will become available later this quarter “in retail locations worldwide”. UK availability is yet to be confirmed.
