Mirror’s Edge 2 and new Plants vs Zombies game coming early 2016

EA has let slip that Mirror’s Edge 2 and a new Plants vs Zombies game are coming in the first quarter of 2016.

A listing within Electronic Arts’ fourth quarter earnings report for the 2015 financial year has revealed loose release dates for two new games.

According to the table, which you can see below, Mirror’s Edge 2 will be released in Q4 FY15 on consoles and PC. That time period equates to the first quarter of 2016, meaning we should see the game land somewhere between January 1 and March 31 next year.

That same release window is also given for what is currently being called Plants vs Zombies TBC.

It’s unclear whether this is a sequel to 2014’s Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare, or something else entirely at this stage.

Mirror’s Edge 2 was originally revealed way back at E3 2013 as a sequel to the original Mirror’s Edge game, which was released in November 2008.

EA Games’ studio DICE is currently developing Mirror’s Edge 2 and is describing the game as “elegant, minimalistic and has an attitude”. Just what we’d come to expect from the series’ protagonist Faith.

We heard a little more about the game at E3 2014, when the publisher said “everything is geared towards traversing”, just as it was in the original game.

As for the combat, Faith’s punches, kicks and strikes will be “very tight, controlled hits. We’re talking about Faith’s power and proficiency”.

“This is a girl that tattooed her eye. She did it for a reason.”
