Mio Cyclo 500 series Wi-Fi enabled bicycle GPS range launched

Mio has released the Mio Cyclo 500 series as the newest in its bicycle navigation range, designed for performance driven cyclists and mountain bikers alike.

The three lightweight bicycle sat-navs that make up the Mio Cyclo 500 series weigh just 129 grams and feature built in Wi-Fi connectivity allowing users to connect to their MioShare account without having to turn on the computer.

“We are very proud to announce this innovative range, which has been created using feedback from our loyal users for some of its new features,” said President of MiTAC Europe, Piet Deschuymer. “We aim to bring technology of the future to the users of today, setting a new standard in the market, while staying with our initial core strategy: offering easy to use bicycle navigation.”

Mio Cyclo 500 Features
The slim and lightweight Mio Cyclo 500 series features a 3-inch anti-glare, capacitive glass screen for better visibility in bright sunlight and with the device weighing just 129 grams, it won’t affect anyone’s top speeds.

Mio has incorporated Wi-Fi connectivity into the new Mio Cyclo 500 series, allowing users to connect to their MioShare account by pressing the Wi-Fi Sync button on the unit, without the need to turn on your computer. The MioShare account stores a user’s track data securely, provides analysis for the uploaded track data, gives users inspiration for their next ride and allows users to manage their Mio Cyclo 500 series.

For those bored of riding the same routes, the Mio Cyclo 500 series features the Mio Surprise Me function, which puts together an unknown bike route based on a designated distance or time wherever you are in the country.

The robust and waterproof bicycle GPS system measures time, distance, height and calorie consumption among other details, and comes with built-in mapping systems to use from the outset.

There are three Mio Cyclo 500 series devices available. The most basic option is the Mio Cyclo 505 which comes with all the above features, and is ANT compatible for heart rate monitors and other peripherals. The middle of the range Mio Cycle 505 HC comes bundled with a heart rate monitor and cadence sensor, whilst the high-end model, the Mio Cyclo HC WEU, is the same as the Mio Cyclo 505 HC but also includes European maps.

Mio Cycle 500 Release Date and Price
All three devices in the Mio Cyclo 500 series range will be available from April this year. The basic Mio Cyclo 505 will set you back £329.99, and the Mio Cyclo 505 HC and Mio Cyclo 505 HC WEU will cost £369.99 and £399.99 respectively.
