Minecraft: The Simpsons DLC coming to Xbox One and Xbox 360

Minecraft gamers on Xbox platforms will soon have the ability to recreate their favourite scenes from The Simpsons, Microsoft announced on Thursday.

Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie will soon be available to download as playable characters for the open world building game on Xbox One and Xbox 360.

The downloadable ‘skin pack’ release will also contain 19 characters from Springfield Elementary school.

The pack will cost $1.99 when it arrives in late February, with Microsoft asking Minecraft players to stay tuned for news of a launch for other platforms.

Head of Xbox Phil Spencer says: “We have an active community of more than 17 million die-hard Minecrafters on Xbox Live enjoying the wide range of downloadable content on Xbox, and they have been clamoring for us to bring Simpsons characters to the game…I can’t wait to see what the community creates.”

The launch of the beloved animated show follows the arrival of Star Wars characters late last year.

The Star Wars deal was also a Microsoft exclusive, which is unsurprising given the software giant recently paid $2 billion to acquire the property from developer Mojang.

Will you be spending this year building your very own Kwik-E-Mart? Or sticking to Mos Eisley Cantina? Minecraft players be heard in the comments section below.
