The Minecraft PS4 Edition is available now from the Sony Entertainment Network and PlayStation Store, following a lengthy certification process.

Originally scheduled for an August release date, the Minecraft PS4 Edition missed that window after it failed some of Sony’s certification process.

It then had to be resubmitted before it could launch on the PlayStation Store.

The PS4 Edition of the world building game costs £12.99 to buy outright in digital format on the PlayStation Store or €18.99 if you live in the EU.

However, if you had previously bought the PS3 edition of the game, you can upgrade to the PS4 Edition for a reduced price of £2.99.

“For those looking for the ultimate Minecraft experience, the PS4 Edition will feature worlds 36 times bigger than the ones you might be used to on PS3,” explained the PlayStation Blog. “Existing players will be able to import PS3 saves to the PS4 Edition, allowing them to continue work on their immense structure or delve even deeper towards the Nether.”

To upgrade all you need to do is log into the PlayStation Store and find the Minecraft PS4 Edition. You’ll be prompted to purchase the upgrade for £2.99, as long as you’ve transferred your PSN account to the PS4.

The Minecraft Xbox One Edition launches tomorrow and offers a similar Xbox 360 upgrade option.

Retailing for £15.99 outright, the Xbox One Edition can be upgraded for the slightly more expensive £2.99.

Sadly, there's still no news on a PS Vita Minecraft edition, but hopefully there will be some more information soon.
