Minecraft PS Vita Edition launches digitally next week

Mojang has announced that the Minecraft PS Vita Edition will be released digitally on the PlayStation Store next week.

The Minecraft PS Vita Edition will arrive on Wednesday, October 15 for £12.99, with the retail edition launching on November 21 in the UK.

The PS4 Edition is already on the PlayStation Store, it will be joined next week by the PS Vita edition with a rather unique cross-buy offer.

For those who already own the PS3 edition, either digitally or on a disc, you can log into the PlayStation Store and download the PS Vita Edition for free come October 15.

Anyone who hasn’t yet bought Minecraft on any PlayStation platforms, Mojang suggests first purchasing and downloading the PS Vita Edition. After that you can download the PS3 version for free and subsequently upgrade to the PS4 Edition for £2.99.

If you want to buy the retail copy of the Minecraft PS Vita Edition, you can afterwards enter the voucher code enclosed within the box into the PlayStation store to redeem the digital versions of the PS Vita and PS3 editions.

Sadly, if you’ve just forked out for the Minecraft PS4 Edition – either digitally or physically – you aren’t eligible for any cross-buy offers for the PS Vita Edition. You’ll have to pay another £12.99 to get Minecraft on your Vita.

“With the portability benefits of PS Vita and its dual analogue control system, you can now transfer your existing Minecraft PS3 Edition save to and from the PS Vita Edition, and continue to build, explore and conque anytime, anywhere. When you’re done, simply transfer your save to the PS4 Edition for the ultimate Minecraft experience,” explained Mojang on the PlayStation blog.
