Microsoft’s best Xbox One controller could be in line for a serious upgrade
The Xbox One Elite controller represents the pinnacle of Microsoft’s controller design nous, and is suitably priced as such.
However, it appears the console gaming giant is preparing a new version of the ultra-customisable, luxury pad, almost three years after the original was unveiled.
Following a recent image leak, a report from The Verge claims the new edition will add USB-C charging and Bluetooth support for Windows 10 gamers.
The second-gen controller will also have three-level Hair Trigger Locks and a three profile switch that could explain the on-board LED lights spied within the leaked image.

Finally, there’ll be longer key travel from the paddles, the report says.
The first Xbox One Elite controller was revealed at E3 2015 and it appears the update could come a full three years later, during this summer’s LA gaming expo.
Today’s report also cites a Microsoft insider, who confirmed the image leaked on Reddit is the geniune article.
When we last looked at the luxurious, £130 Xbox One Elite controller in November 2016, it maintained a 9/10 score.
Our reviewer wrote: “The Xbox One Elite Controller really is the one controller to rule them all, with its mature aesthetics, strong customisation options and durability. You might just want to wait for a price drop before you buy.”
Are you a proud Xbox One Elite controller owner, who’d never go back to the stock option? Or is £130 for a controller just too much to ask for your gaming needs.
