Microsoft Windows 10 release date set for late July, says AMD

The Windows 10 release date has now been pinned down to a single month thanks to AMD.

According to the US chipmaker, Windows 10 will be available to the public from late July.

The company didn’t give a specific release date, but hinted that the release was partly to get ahead of the lucrative return-to-school period.

Lisa Su, AMD’s CEO, said: “With the Windows 10 launch at the end of July, we are watching sort of the impact of that on the back-to-school season, and expect that it might have a bit of a delay to the normal back-to-school season inventory build-up.”

Microsoft previously confirmed that Windows 10 would be coming in the ‘summer months’, rolling out across 190 countries in 111 languages.

This latest report gels with Microsoft’s timeframe, and appears to come from a reliable source.

It’s also worth noting that Microsoft’s Build developer conference is due to take place later this month.

The Redmond-based company will almost certainly provide more details about Windows 10, and could very well reveal the actual software release date.

The Windows 10 upgrade is set to mark a new generation of Microsoft software, with the new OS offering a unified system across many of the company’s platforms.

This means that Windows smartphones, tablets, PCs, and Xbox will all fall under one Windows 10 banner.

There’ll also be a host of new features available on the platform, including voice-controlled Cortana AI, the new ‘Project Spartan’ web browser, and universal cross-platform apps.
