Microsoft will pay you to ditch your Mac for Windows 10

Mac vs PC: Redux?

While Microsoft’s Windows 10 operating system has been well received, it hasn’t resulted in a stampede to buy new PCs. This is a problem.

Microsoft is hoping to cure that with a new promotion that’ll put a hefty amount of cash into buyers' pockets when they trade in their old machines (via ZDNet).

The company is willing to hand over up to $200 cashback for an old Windows machine, while that figure rises to $300 if the buyer ditches their clapped out Mac to jump on board with Windows 10.

Purchases must be made from the Microsoft Store in the US, whereas the company is offering the promotion through third-party retailers in the other territories.

In the UK, the offer isn’t quite as substantial, with a maximum of £100 cashback up for grabs, depending on the value of the Windows PC purchased.

The offer could reignite the Mac vs PC wars, which have been reduced to minor skirmishes in recent years; a far cry from the bloodbath of previous generations.

Both companies currently seem to be at relative peace with each other these days, with Microsoft even appearing on stage during the iPad Pro launch last month.
