Microsoft has been rapidly cranking out the Preview versions of Windows 10 in recent months, giving users early beta access to a raft of new and exciting features.
Now the likes of Cortana, Continuum and the Edge browser have made their way into the various builds, Microsoft has turned its attentions to polishing the experience ahead of the consumer launch this summer.
Build 10122 offers little in the way of new features, but a refined and stabilised experience more befitting of a product ready for prime time, according to Gabril Aul, the GM of Microsoft’s operating system’s group.
He said: “
“From here on out you’ll see fewer big feature changes from build to build, and more tuning, tweaking, stabilizing, and polishing.”

Of those tweaks, the Edge browser (still going by its Project Spartan name in this build) benefits from a ’New Tab’ page and a private browsing mode. However, the new build appears to have led to crashing problems for testers rocking PCs with AMD GPUs.
Elsewhere, Microsoft has shifted a few things around on the start menu for better symmetry, while the promising Continuum platform for tablets has larger Live Tiles “to better use the available space” on the connected monitor.
There are also changes to the way Windows 10 handles default apps.
The new build of the software has been released for Windows Insiders on the so-called ‘fast track’ to new updates. It is only available to desktop and tablet users at this time also.
