Microsoft to talk gaming at Windows 10 event

Forget the Xbox One, Microsoft has confirmed it is to put special focus on gaming during its upcoming Windows 10 event.

With the company having previously stated that gaming is ‘critical’ to future success of Windows, Microsoft has now revealed it will formally outline its future plans for gaming on the Windows 10 platform in the coming weeks.

With the manufacturer having confirmed plans for a dedicated Windows 10 event in January, it has been revealed Xbox head Phil Spencer will be present during the demo to talk gaming.

“I’ll be focussing more on what we are doing on Win10 in January,” Spencer announced via Twitter recently. He added: “It’s time for us to talk about gaming on Windows.

While Spencer will be present, the Windows 10 event will be headed up by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella.

Formally confirmed earlier this year, Windows 10 will be the surprise follow-on to Windows 8.

A cross-platform release, the operating system will look to unify experiences on all manner of devices from smartphones and tablets to laptops, desktops and hybrid devices.

Despite a year of struggles in the gaming scene, Microsoft – with the Xbox One – recently celebrated its first month of sales success over the PS4, shifting 1.2 million units during November.
