Microsoft Surface Pro release date just weeks away

The Microsoft Surface Pro release date could be with us in a matter of weeks, a tweet from one of the company’s lead product managers has revealed.

Taking to the micro blogging site to tease the upcoming Microsoft Surface Pro release date, Panos Panay, general manager of Microsoft’s Surface products, tweeted: “On my way to the factory to check out #Surface Pro coming off the line… arriving in the coming weeks”.

Whilst it is currently unclear whether Panay’s comments refer to a US or the UK Microsoft Surface Pro release date, Microsoft has previously promised that the Microsoft Surface Pro tablet would be released around 90 days after the release of the original Microsoft Surface RT tablet, an iPad rival which was launched back on 26 October 2012.

With Microsoft Surface Pro UK prices yet to be released, it has been confirmed that in the US, the 64GB and 128GB Microsoft Surface Pro models will cost $899 (£561) and $999 (£623) respectively.

The tweet could be a deliberate rouse in an attempt to build the hype for the latest offering from Microsoft after low Microsoft Surface RT sales, but we will have to wait and see.

Microsoft Surface Pro Specs
Like its predecessor, the Microsoft Surface Pro is a full-power tablet that you can be paired with a magnetic keyboard to act as a laptop replacement. What sets apart the Microsoft Surface Pro from its Microsoft Surface RT sibling is the fact it runs a Windows 8 professional operating system, capable of running all Windows 7 desktop applications.

A high-end addition to the market and a strong first hardware offering from Microsoft, the Microsoft Surface Pro plays host to a sturdy magnesium alloy case which houses a 10.6-inch, 1920 x 1080p Full HD. Underneath the bonnet, a powerful Intel core i5 processor with Intel HD Graphics 4000 and 4GB of RAM help run the show.

Adding to the Microsoft Surface Pro specs sheet, the latest Windows 8 tablet is set to boasts a piar of 720p HD cameras, one on the front, a second on the rear, three full sized USB ports and a better positioned Micro SD card slot than its predecessor. Featuring a brand new, redesigned stylus pen, the Microsoft Surface Pro will line up as Microsoft’s flagship Windows 8 offering.
