Microsoft Surface all-in-one desktop could be here sooner than you think

Microsoft has announced it is to host an event on October 26 to show ‘what’s new for Windows 10.’

The ‘Imagine what you’ll do’ showcase comes amid speculation the firm plans to launch new Surface hardware, including an all-in-one desktop PC, a new Surface Pro and perhaps even a smartphone under the brand.

Perhaps the most intriguing of the three is the rumoured desktop, which would be the first of its kind from Microsoft and perhaps an attempt to revive the flagging PC market.

Just this week a full-sized keyboard and mouse took a trip through the FCC in the United States.

A patent filing earlier this year suggested Microsoft may create a modular solution that would enable users to stack their own components.

The filing with the USPTO also showed the large display could be laid flat and used as a tablet.

Meanwhile, the Surface Pro is due an update as the fourth generation laptop/tablet hybrid arrived around this time last year.

Leaked info this summer suggested it’ll pack a 4K display, better battery life and Intel Kaby Lake CPU.
