The Microsoft Surface 3 has been available in the UK for just a few months now, but that doesn’t mean it’s not due an upgrade.
That’s why Microsoft has announced a 4G/LTE version of the Surface 3 will soon be up for grabs.
The first Surface 3 4G editions have already been on sale in Japan for two weeks, but it’s now set for a UK launch on July 3 – that’s this Friday.
It’ll also launch simultaneously in Germany, with France and Spain due to receive the tablet at an unspecified “later” date.
In the UK, you’ll be able to pick up the tablet on O2 with a 4G contract. Microsoft hasn’t mentioned any other providers as offering the slate.
“Surface 3 is the thinnest and lightest Surface we’ve ever built,” said Brian Hall, Microsoft’s general manager for Surface.
He continued: “The addition of mobile broadband capability will make it uniquely capable among tablets to help you get more done wherever you are.”

We gave the original Surface 3 a 9/10 in our review, praising it for a great screen, impressive battery life, and portable form factor.
The Surface 3 4G is set to tout the same specs as the conventional Surface 3, albeit with a slot for a SIM.
That means you’ll be getting a 10.8-inch Full HD display, a 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, an 8-megapixel camera, Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, and a USB 3.0 port.
