Microsoft’s OneClip is the cloud clipboard for all C&P needs

Microsoft is working on a new productivity app that will allow users to store items they’ve copied in the cloud.

The OneClip app, currently operating in beta, is designed to make it easier for folks to “get back” to photos, screenshots, phone numbers, addresses they have copied.

It works by scanning the device’s clipboard before automatically pasting content into OneClip, sharing it over the cloud and negating the need to manually move content between devices.

“Copy once, paste anywhere” reads a screengrab from the app, which will be compatible with Windows, Windows Phone, iOS and Android.

The app’s description reads (via The Next Web):” With OneClip, it’s easy to get back to the stuff you’ve seen and used. It might be a photo you took, a screenshot you made, a phone number or address you copied on your PC (and really need now while you’re on the run) or just an important piece of text. OneClip makes this available to you automatically, on your behalf, on all your devices. A cross device, secure, intelligent clipboard in the cloud. Why didn’t anyone think of this earlier?”

OneClip will also recognise what kinds of data the user is pasting, be it text, photos, screenshots or phone numbers and drop everything into the relevant categories. It’ll also have enough smarts to ensure sensitive information like passwords aren’t pasted everywhere.

The app is in internal beta with Microsoft right now, but it sounds like it could be a promising addition to Microsoft’s bevy of cross-platform productivity tools.
