Microsoft outs new wired Xbox One controller for Windows

Microsoft has rolled out a new Xbox One controller geared for gaming on Windows PCs.

The wired peripheral will allow users to plug into their computer via USB, and boasts the same design, functionality and price point ($60, £45) as the console equivalent.

The Windows controller also features a wireless battery pack in the box, meaning it can also be used as a secondary Xbox One controller if needs be. Unfortunately, it cannot be used wirelessly with Windows.

As well as the new gaming peripheral, which goes on sale in November, Microsoft has rolled out a new Bluetooth keyboard and mouse.

The Universal Mobile Keyboard can pair with up to three devices on any operating system – iOS and Android included – although it only works with one device at a time.

The $80 (around £47) keyboard, which has a six month battery life on a single charge, has a tablet stand that’s compatible with most devices of relative slimness. It also comes with a protective cover to keep it nice and safe when you’re not using it.

Completing the trio of new accessories is a new version of the stylish Microsoft Arc Mouse with Bluetooth functionality. That’ll set buyers back around $70 (about £43).

The keyboard and mouse will arrive in October.
