Microsoft Office for iPad release finally confirmed

Microsoft has finally confirmed that Microsoft Office will arrive on the iPad and the app suite launching today in the App Store.

Finally, Microsoft has made Word, Excel and PowerPoint available to iPad users with a brand new mobile friendly user-interface “uniquely built for the iPad”.

The app suite will be available to download directly from the Apple App Store today, with a freemium business model.

You can download the app suite now for free, which will let you read and create new documents. However, you will need a Microsoft 365 subscription to access all the new features.

Users will find the user interface very familiar to that experienced on a desktop edition of the Office Suite.

Touch handles have been introduced to make it easier to manipulate Word documents and its content on your iPad device, including the new iPad Air.

Thanks to the introduction of Office on iPad, documents will appear the same across any device you access them on. Plus, Microsoft has allowed multiple users to access documents on the iPad through OneDrive, an app already available on the App Store.

Within the Word for iPad app, you can even utilise the Mark Up functions, to help you keep track of the changes being made to your documents by multiple users.

All the apps come with the familiar navigational ribbon along the top, which offer access to options menus and review panels.

The Excel app have a pretty cool “Recommendations” feature that offers various ways to present your data, with your actual data represented in real-time.

PowerPoint is also very easy to use and lets you run presentations directly from your iPad. However, it does have some iPad unique features like a laser pointer activated by holding down your finger on the screen, which will also let you annotate slides as you present them.
