Microsoft has pulled Office for Android tablets out of its preview state, essentially launching the full service on Google's platform.

The company made its suite of Office apps free to download and use on iOS late last year. While Android users also got a functionally complete version, it was labelled with the "preview" tag as Microsoft tested it on a variety of hardware.

Now Microsoft has announced that it's removed the aforementioned preview tag from the Office apps.

These latest versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint allow users to log in using their Microsoft account and create, edit, and print files for free. Additional premium features can only be accessed by signing up for an Office 365 subscription.

The company has also revealed that it will be adding support for Intel chipsets "within a quarter."

Microsoft claims that the iOS versions of Office has been downloaded more than 80 million times.

Just last week Microsoft announced that Office 2016 for desktop would be coming later in the year, while a universal app for smartphones and small tablets will be packaged with Windows 10.

This latest Android version of Office may not be around for that long, then.

Microsoft also used this latest announcement to unveil the new Outlook app for iOS and Android, which is essentially a rebrand of the recently acquired Acompli email app.
