Microsoft: New MacBook Pro is a ‘disappointment’ and Mac fans are flocking to Surface

Microsoft has dubbed the new MacBook Pro a “disappointment,” and cited it as a reason for the surge in Surface sales.

The company says it enjoyed its “best single week for Surface ever” in the UK during the month of November.

One would have to presume it hit that landmark thanks to the aggressive Black Friday offers.

The surge in sales may also be attributed to traditional Mac buyers waiting to see what the new TouchBar-enabled MacBook Pro had to offer before opting for a Surface product.

Microsoft is also offering large discounts for MacBook owners willing to trade in their current machine for a Surface-branded device.

“Our trade-in program for MacBooks was our best ever, and the combination of excitement for the innovation of Surface coupled with the disappointment of the new MacBook Pro – especially among professionals – is leading more and more people to make the switch to Surface,” wrote Microsoft marketing chief Brian Hall.

“It seems like a new review recommending Surface over MacBook comes out daily. This makes our team so proud, because it means we’re doing good work,” he added.

The MacBook Pro certainly wasn’t deemed a disappointment in our recent review, earning a 9/10 score.

In comparison the Microsoft Surface Book received an 8/10 score, but was marked down slightly for its spongy keyboard and expensive price point.
