Microsoft launches Destination Brazil for football loving Xbox One owners

Microsoft is getting ready for World Cup fever, launching Destination Brazil as a football-themed hub just for Xbox One owners.

Landing as a new element to the Xbox Live experience, the free-to-use Destination Brazil will bring all manner of football features an content to the fore, with games such as FIFA 14 and Kinect Sports Rivals being pulled in alongside Copa 90 content and the Xbox Original, Every Street United.

“This is our opportunity to really pull together all the great football content”, Glenn Purkis, Microsoft’s Xbox Live Marketing Manager for EMEA told TrustedReviews.

He added: “As you can appreciate there is a big tournament this summer and it was very important for us to bring together all that football content and experiences into one place and that is Destination Brazil.”

More than just a static hub, Destination Brazil will continue to develop and evolve throughout the month-long tournament.

“We are going to be updating Destination Brazil every single day because there is a lot of content going up throughout the summer,” Perkis said.

Landing alongside Destination Brazil is a new football application dubbed ‘Brazil Now.’

The true start of the new rollout, Brazil Now will see Xbox One gamers able to receive live notifications all the latest World Cup action, including score and result alerts.

Not wanting to disturb your standard gameplay, Brazil Now can work behind the scenes, offering these alerts as standard notification pop-ups. Gamers can jump in and out as desired.

With Xbox OneGuide coming to UK Xbox One owners, Destination Brazil and the Brazil Now app users will soon be able to watch one World Cup game through their PS4 rival while receiving live updates on other games.

“This is a dedicated companion for live TV, it’s called Brazil Now and it gives you a whole bunch of things to do,” Toby Heap, an Executive Producer at Microsoft’s Soho Studios said.

“We have built a notification system around alerts, we’ve given you a live social experience when you are watching games and we’ve got real-time live data and stats.”

He added: “Whatever you’re doing on your Xbox, you can have this running alongside. If you want to jump into a live match when it’s on, we’ll give you an alert and you can get right into that.”

With the 2014 FIFA World Cup to kick off on June 12, Destination Brazil seems like Microsoft’s way of saying ‘Game On’.
