Microsoft is bringing its Windows 10 Mobile keyboard to iOS

Microsoft looks set to continue its efforts to rule on enemy soil with the upcoming launch of the Windows 10 Mobile keyboard app for iOS.

The Verge has gone hands-on with the unannounced third-party app, which also features a one-handed mode for those looking to type with a single thumb.

That one-handed mode shifts the keyboard to a crescent shape anchored to one edge of the device, making it easier to type. The orientation can be altered depending on whether you’re operating the phone with the left or right hand.

As well as the single-hand operation, Microsoft is also bringing its Word Flow system to the iOS app, offering predictions, letter swiping and emoji.

According to the report, the app is being tested by Microsoft, ahead of a launch on iOS “in the coming months.” Android users will be able to jump on board later this year, the sources say.

Following years of prioritising Windows-based devices, Microsoft has been very active with its launches on the rival platforms in the last year or two.

As well as offering the Office suite for free, Cortana is now available for iOS and Android, while Outlook is making its mark as one of the most popular mobile email clients on the market.
