Minecraft, the phenomenally successful open world building game which just happens to be owned by Microsoft, has finally shown up on the Windows Phone Store.
A few months after Microsoft completed a $2.5 billion deal to take ownership of franchise developer Mojang, the company has ensured those within its own Windows Phone flock can finally jump aboard.
The $6.99 Minecraft Pocket Edition, which has been available on iOS and Android for years, gets the same treatment on Windows phone with survival, creative modes and multiplayer over Wi-Fi.
The launch on Windows Phone eases what was a slightly embarrassing position for Microsoft.
“Welcome to Minecraft: Pocket Edition! Minecraft is a game about placing blocks and going on adventures,” reads a listing on the Windows Phone Store.
“Pocket Edition includes Survival and Creative modes, multiplayer over a local Wi-Fi network, infinite worlds, caves, new biomes, mobs, villages and lots more. Craft create and explore anywhere in the world so long as you have hands spare and battery to burn. There’s never been a better time to enjoy Minecraft on the move.”
