Metal Gear Survive launch trailer takes us straight to hell

Konami has released the launch trailer for Metal Gear Survive, an action-survival title now available for PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Having gained renown for being the first major Metal Gear without the involvement of Hideo Kojima, who is now working on Death Stranding, Survive transports players to a parallel universe following the events of Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes.

After creating an avatar you’ll have to gather resources, build shelter and survive against endless waves of strange, bloodthirsty zombies. You can view the launch trailer in its entirety below.

Due to its heavy dependence regarding online features we’ve yet to provide you with a full verdict on Metal Gear Survive. For now, here’s a snippet from our review-in-progress:

“Survive does embrace what the survival genre is all about, and if that idea and the franchise’s look floats your boat then you’ll probably be pleased. Remember, though, that you always have to be online, and that microtransactions feature heavily. If that hasn’t put you off, the latest Metal Gear does feature the odd highlight. They’re just unlikely to put a smile on your face – but nor are they meant to.”

We’ll have a full review alongside a numbered score in the coming days!
