Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain release date tipped for early 2015

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain release date has been tipped for early 2015.

The release date tip comes courtesy of a supposed product registration page for Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes, which is out on Friday, March 21.

According to the official Konami page, which a fan screengrabbed a posted to reddit, gamers who register their Ground Zeroes game can return in 2015 to download some Phantom Pain tie-in DLC.

“Come back early 2015 to claim your Downloadable Content”, reads the posted registration page.

Rumours suggest the DLC will allow you to use the mercenaries rescued in Ground Zeroes as part of your troops in The Phantom Pain.

Konami has yet to announce the official release date for Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain, but the developer warned gamers not to expect it to launch anytime soon.

“As far as the game itself goes, The Phantom Pain will take place in an immense open world map, while Ground Zeroes takes place in a smaller open world,” explained series creator, Hideo Kojima. “It would’ve actually been better to release it all at once, but by the way things are going, it appear likely that Phantom Pain will be coming out around the time the PlayStation 4 becomes more spread out.”

In comparison to the smaller Ground Zeroes MGS title, The Phantom Pain is expected to be “more than 200x bigger”, which would explain why the game needs more time to develop.

“The Phantom Pain has enormous volume, so it will require much more time. So, together with the marketing staff, we consulted ‘what ifs’ and such, and came to the decision of allowing fans to at least play the prologue ahead of time.”

Wow why does everybody feel the need to complain about ground zeroes, its a great slice of whats to come and in a time when we are lumped with season passes and skins dlc I find it funny that this has caused so much flack, the fox engine is amazing and with such a long development I think its a good thing to give some support and funding to what will likely be one of the finest stealth games of this gen. I have spent much more on larger full games that dont scratch the sides of the depth and replayability of ground zeroes.

Ground zeroes is a preview of one of the best metal gears to come. I have replayed every mission at least 10 times and im still not bored. Worth the $30. And it has the best replay value than any other game ive played.

hideo kojima said its the prologue to phantom pain but instead of making everyone wait till 2015 he gave us the prologue. and you complain that it can be beat in 30 minutes yea. you can complete the game in 30 minutes after knowing where everything is and getting it all and speed running. i enjoy the game dispite it being short. i have replayed it serveral time to try new tactics and going guns blazing or stealth.

I haven't played MGS since Sons of Liberty on PS2. I then got tired of CoD ghosts (there isn't much choice on Xbox one right now), so I bought the digital version of Ground Zeroes. I had no idea that it was so short. I assumed the low price of $30 was a special, or it just wasn't selling well.

It was an absolute masterpiece. You could just imagine how disappointed I was after the credits started rolling. WTF! The Xbox marketplace should have a warning!

Fivogoeswest i agree with him though... what is the point in releasing this prologue? i wouldve been cool to wait until next year. what im not cool with is that i went and bought the PS4 today and saw this game on the shelf and thought huh didnt know they came out with a new MGS. figured the $30 was because it didnt do so well.. bro it only has one mission and maybe a handful of side ops. pointless. i want my money back and refuse to by anything with Kanomi's name on it ever again. waste of time waste of money.

I have enjoyed all MGS games. Playing as Big Boss I have always favoured. Snake Eater was awesome. I understood it was a short game when I bought it. But it offers a taster and gives Konami and Hideo a chance to get feedback. I was a little disapointed about not being able to forward roll (minor thing) I am majorly disapointed that David Hayter wasn't given the roll again (I mean come on he is the voice of snake) But other then that I really enjoyed the 2 hours I have played so far. I have done all the side ops and just started going through on Hard difficulty. A quick run through took me 22 minutes to the the mission. I scored an A rank on Hard would have got an S if I bothered to save the prisoners.

Mr. @"shocked" thank you. Someone understands not to rat on a man (Hideo Kojima) in which he could have just waited for next year but instead gave GZ to us and gave us that "taste" of TPP. Stop hating on a man who is possibly the best video game designer in the world.

Anyone here bitching about buying GZ can shut the F up. If you see the game on-shelf, use your fucking smartphone and do some research before buying it. A little ducation goes a long way. I just picked this up for $20 because I KNEW it was a prologue game because I am smart, unlike seemingly 99% of you here who bought it for like $40-$60 not knowing wtf you were buying haha.

Lol, another noob who paid full price for a prologue, rather than whipping out your smartphone and wiki'ing GZ beforehand.....y'all need to learn how to do research...there's no reason in the modern era that you can't look up facts on a game while you're staring at it on a shelf BEFORE you buy it. Got GZ for $20 hahahahahaha.

Looking at that wreck of a paragraph, I can tell that Cipher put the bombs in the wrong person.
