Meerkat has just updated its app with a new feature that looks to stave off competition from video-streaming rivals.
The live-streaming app now lets users beam video directly from a GoPro Hero3 camera thanks to a new partnership between Meerkat and the action camera firm.
What’s more, an upcoming update will allow GoPro’s flagship Hero4 line-up to perform the same feat.
This is a huge coup for Meerkat, and gives the app an impressive advantage over the more popular competitor service Periscope, which is owned by Twitter.
To set up Meerkat to work with your GoPro, you’ll need to connect your camera to an iOS device using Wi-Fi.
Once that’s done, you install and open meerkat on your iPhone, and then simply shake the handset to kick off a stream.
If all goes to plan, Meerkat will recognise your GoPro is connected and start broadcasting your video.

The new feature is currently only supported on iOS and GoPro Hero3 devices, but Hero4 and Android compatibility is confirmed to be on the way.
