Mass Effect 4: Bioware asks for fan input for Xbox One and PS4 trailer

Bioware has started asking fans for input for its debut Mass Effect 4 teaser trailer, prompting speculation that the game may not be released until 2015.

Yanick Roy, Studio Director BioWare Montreal, posted a tweet from his personal account that asked fans what they would like to see in the Mass Effect 3 follow-up.

“When we release a teaser trailer for the next ME, like DA3 just did, what would you like to see? What question would you like answered?” tweeted Roy from his personal account.

BioWare announced that it would be developing another Mass Effect game back in March, and although it did say it wouldn’t be called Mass Effect 4, has yet to offer any details as to plot details, release date or time setting.

However, Roy’s tweet seems to confirm that BioWare itself still has few of these aspects set in stone, seeking out what fans would like to see in the teaser trailer footage.

“When the game takes place and who you get to play are very strong trends in your answers,” Roy later tweeted.

Developers from the label have suggested players could take control of existing characters like Garrus, Grunt or less developed cast members like Aria or even the Illusive Man. Players won’t be controlling Commander Shepard, as with the existing Mass Effect trilogy, but who they will play is still up for debate.

Taking place within “a fresh and new” universe, Mass Effect fans answering Roy’s question are far more interested in the game’s storyline, rather than the gameplay, combat system or other aspects of the game.

“And while I’m sure you’d want both, I’m getting more requests about story than gameplay. It makes sense, it’s core to a BioWare game!”

Widely tipped to make an appearance at E3 2013, any Mass Effect news was conspicuously absent from the annual gaming conference, despite BioWare showing a new Dragon Age 3: Inquisition teaser trailer and revealing the game wouldn’t be released until 2014.

Such an absence suggest that Mass Effect 4 won’t be available until 2015 and running on the Frostbite 3 engine, we should see Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS4, PS3 and PC platforms supported.

Definitely resolve the Prequel/Sequel question.
If a sequel hints on how you solve the multiple ending conundrum would be very nice. Simple Cannon ending is probably the easiest, (New Series/New Consoles/Fresh Start). You provide an engaging story like last time and everyone will get over their Old Shep.
Definitely not playing as a previous character! They have their stories, we want our's or our new stories.
Other than that just bring on the game, so keen to see the Mass Effect Universe again!

Stop messing around BioWare, explain and expand on what really happened to Shepard at the end of the destroy choice. Whats the deal with the "Shepard lives" pointers within the game files. We need answers why you insist on face value interpretation of the events while indoctrination like interpretations are also valid at the same time according to your own people. To me the last sequence from the moment harbinger blasts Shepard in the beam run was all like a dream. Its got everything going for it to be a dream or some sort of pseudo reality narrative.

You want a trailer idea? How about showing us a few teasers from when Shepard takes that gasp for breath post ending.

It better be a sequel! & not a prequel.

They should make he game coincide with the players choice form ME3.
the trailer should just say "its not over yet".

I agree, Shepard's story is not finished because at the end the kid asks the stargazers to tell him another story of Shepard and the stargazers says yes. If Bioware is done with Shepard's story why add that scene and the scene when he is breathing?

Shepard is not one of those characters where the people will get bored of after playing 3 games with him. There is still ALOT of room to continue developing Shepard.

I have this feeling like Bioware is not going to listen to the people who want Shepard back, WHICH IS THE MAJORITY, and only listen to those who only played Mass Effect 3 and want a new game with a different character.

By the way I was reading a review about Mass Effect 3 about someone actually liking the ending. Yeah I know right, CRAZY. But anyways, the person said that he only played Mass Effect 3 and thought Shepard's story was BORING and the ending was RIGHT at how Bioware ended Shepard's story. I don't know what you think about this, but what I think is that these are the type of people that Bioware IS listening to, WHICH IS THE MINORITY PEOPLE, and are USING them to cover their asses for the DISAPPOINTING AND HORRIBLE ENDING.

This is just my opinion and I am not trying to convince people, but the facts don't lie. People who haven't played the series from Mass Effect 1 to Mass Effect 3 DON'T understand WHY people are upset about Mass Effect 3's ending.

Mass Effect without Shepard. I'm out.

I find this funny "I'm getting more requests about story than gameplay."
The MAJORITY of the requests are REQUESTING SHEPARD!

Shepard is as big as Master Chief is to halo fans in my eyes. you play as shepard for 3 long and fun games it has the potential for as many games as they desire with the diverse worlds and races

June 18, 2013, 6:29 am

Its not "Shepherd", its "Shepard".

That works too.

There are games like the Halo series and many others that focus on ONE CHARACTER and are still a successful game. I don't know where they got this idea of if you continue Shepard's story then it will be BORING. Shepard is like Master Chief where you can always develop the character further.

I don't see how it is possible to make a "spin-off" or "prequel" on the Mass Effect series.

if u want the next mass effect to work do this start off with the real ending because everyone knows that shepard did not die if u choses to destroy the reapers and the last thing we seen was he or she chest and a n7 dog tags and one last breath just start off from there then who ever the new guy is just give us a new faction to fight like maybe some left over cerbures and maybe some new guys to fight or maybe look for shepard along with what happen to all the squad members from all 3 games along with maybe bring back the geth and edi.

new ending at the start of the game or like it said his story is not finish

June 18, 2013, 11:30 pm

Or create a prequel where you play as Shepard and lead up to your back ground choice such as ruthless or war hero (paragon and renegade) so we get to know how he became the bad ass commander he is.

June 19, 2013, 7:56 am

Why not be able to pick from your choice of characters that survived your encounter at the end of Mass Effect 3 and rebuild in shepard's honor. I could live with Shepard's death if the next part of the story was all about rebuilding and shepard's influence on the other character's and how your choice at the end of the game will affect the world from then on out.

Being how all the possible endings are so different this will surely be a challenge for BioWare. But I still think it would be cool if you could pick up right where it left off and rebuild, explain what happens after ME3.

We want Shepard but I feel that right now bioware just don't give a fuck about what we think just like the fact that we wanted the citadel dlc to be post-ending. I'm REALLY hoping to see mass effect 4 with Shepard or at least some news on him like why did he survive and what happened after! And also please be a sequel and not a prequel. That would just be horrible in my opinion.

Yeah like the game start and you are Shepard just waking up in the concrete. Would be awesome! I'd collector edition this game like hell!

Bioware, a lot of people think that Shepards story is not over, in fact not in any ending can you confirm in Mass Effect 3 that Shepard is dead. So Bioware and EA reconsider. You say you ask for what the fans want? Well we want more Shepard and a continuation to Shepards story. Plus at the end that child asks for another story about The Shepard and the man/woman sais yes.

I totally agree with you. If Bioware doesn't continue Shepard's story I can only imagine how many people will be mad.
